ABOUT

I am Davide Piazzolla, an Italian cinematographer and Director of Photography working in film and visual storytelling.

Photography has always been part of my life, alongside my work in cinema. I used to photograph digitally, but over time I found myself losing the pleasure of it. With digital photography, it was easy to take hundreds of images, only to spend just as much time later selecting, editing and processing them.

Returning to film changed that.

Shooting on 35mm made me slow down and pay more attention to what was in front of me. With a limited number of frames, every photograph becomes a more deliberate choice. I take fewer pictures, but I enjoy taking them more. And somehow, I find myself enjoying both the process and the photographs more.

This collection brings together images made along the way: during travels, everyday life and moments that simply caught my attention. They are not commissioned photographs or a traditional photography portfolio, but a personal way of looking at the world through film.

The photographs are presented as they were taken, without digital retouching or manipulation. What you see is the image captured on film, with its natural colours, grain and imperfections.

They are images I chose to keep. If one of them speaks to you too, it is available as a print.
